Diamond Professional Diploma Program - Addis Abeba (Ethiopia)
Students can select from three different study formats that include theoretical, practical and in-class lecturing (Format A) or theoretical and practical instruction (Formats B & C).
Theory
You will learn the physical properties, geology, localities, principle mines, crystal system,
chemical composition and classification, fancy colours, causes of colour, absorption spectra, inclusions, fluorescence, mining, cutting, gem
identification, methods of synthesis, common treatments and enhancements and the grading of diamonds using systems created by GIA, AGS, HRD, EGL, IGI and AGA
Practical
You will learn how to distinguish natural diamonds from their lab-created counterparts, and how to grade them for colour,
clarity and cut.
Tests and Examinations
This program includes one online test, a practical examination (requiring the preparation of complete lab reports for four
diamonds), a 100 question theoretical multiple-choice examination and a theoretical five essay question examination.
Diplomas
Upon the successful completion of this program, graduates will receive the Diamond Professional Diploma.
All in-class and practical instruction will be held in Addis Abeba.
